‘APOCALYPTIC’ for employment in North Antrim is how local MP Ian Paisley has described news that the Michelin Tyre Factory in Ballymena is too close.
The plant, which employs 860 people, including many from the Ballymoney area, will close by mid-2018 as part of restructuring of Michelin European operations.
It is estimated that up to 500 subcontracting jobs could also be at risk.
