A boy, aged 5, has sadly died after being pulled out of the Braid River in Ballymena.
The boy was removed from the river at approx 3pm after entering the water and being swept for over 4 miles. The incident was reported at 1pm, some 2 hours earlier.
Despite efforts by paramedics and an air ambulance doctors, the boy later died in hospital.
He was transported by air ambulance to the Royal Belfast hospital for sick children.
Local politicians have expressed their sadness and sympathy to the family.
