A Yellow warning of Snow has been issued for Northern Ireland

An Amber warning of Ice has been issued for Northern Ireland

Further frequent and at times heavy sleet and snow showers are expected to affect NI this evening, overnight and into the first part of Monday. Further accumulations of 3 – 6cm possibly more during heavier showers or where showers merge to give longer spells of snow. Larger accumulations likely over higher ground.

The heaviest and most frequent showers will again be in Northern & Western areas.

Widespread black Ice will be an additional hazard.

Temperatures have dropped to below freezing tonight and Ice is forming on untreated surfaces. This combined with snowfall will lead to some hazardous driving conditions overnight and tomorrow, especially where snow has temporarily thawed and then frozen.

The public are advised to take extra care

DFI – Temperatures are forecast to fall below freezing and there is a risk of snow and ice on roads. The Salting of roads on the scheduled network considered to be at risk is planned for this evening. Road users are advised to exercise caution when travelling, particularly when driving on untreated roads
