Local archer John Nicholl has been selected for the Visually Impaired V1 Classification as part of TeamGB for the Para European Championships in Pilsen, Czech Republic in August. This is a major achievement given that John is both deaf and blind.

John made history by becoming the first deaf blind archer to have represented Northern Ireland at the British championships in the past and over the 10 day trip John will represent Team GB again, hoping to bring back a gold medal to Northern Ireland when he returns.

This could even set John up with an opportunity to represent TeamGB & NI at the 2020 Para Olympics in Japan.

There is however one catch! John and his team need to raise the funds themselves which have been estimated conservatively at £5000 but this could be more as John must travel with both his coach and an interpreter.

This is where you can help. John and his team have set up a GoFund page and ask that you make a donation, no matter how small, to help raise his target and make not just the Para European Championships but also his dream and this fantastic opportunity of bringing home a medal.Credit: Causeway Archers Facebook

John is a member of Causeway Archers and is also looking for sponsors from local Businesses and encourages anyone interested to get in touch.
