The ‘NW200 People and Places’ exhibition opened in Ballymoney Museum on Friday 4th May featuring archive photographs and road racing memorabilia.
Road racing enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view a large collection of images from the Chronicle and Constitution local newspapers, providing a unique insight into the North West event from 1987 – 1997.
The images include unpublished material captured in areas such as Juniper Hill and York Corner over a ten year period. Famous riders, spectators and memorable victories will all be featured- you may even recognise some of the faces!
An array of bikes, leathers and other memorabilia will also be on show, thanks to the generosity of local families, exploring the fascinating and thrilling world of motorcycle road racing.
Accompanying the exhibition, a dedicated display on the Emergency Services and their involvement in the NW 200 is also included, demonstrating the importance of road safety at the event.
Spectators and budding photographers are also being urged to enter their unique photographs from Race Week into Council’s ‘Capture the Moment’ competition. For more details please contact Museum Services on 028 2766 0230.
To celebrate the opening of the exhibition, a free family fun day will be held at Ballymoney Museum on Saturday 12th May. Featuring the Nerve Centre’s Fab Lab, craft facilitators and fun filled NW 200 themed workshops and activities, it is a great way to enjoy the build up to Race Week.
The NW 200 Faces and Places exhibition is open until Saturday 1st September, Monday to Thursday and Saturday, 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-4.30pm. Admission is free.
