Tuesday at the NW200 saw the first of two days of practice and qualifying races on the course with the other between 9.15 – 3pm on Thursday. Disputes the weather not being a good at the week started the conditions were ideal for the riders to take to the track and get their first feel of the NW200 track for 2018.
For some it was their first time, and others they had been here many times but either way the NW200 course is always a challenging course. Unfortunately the practice race wasn’t without incident as local Ballymoney rider Darryl Tween slid off his bike coming out of the start/finish shacuine. Thankful he was uninsured.
Two riders also came off their bikes at University corner and unfortunately on this occasion both riders required further treatment. One was transported by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service while the other was take to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Balfast by the Air Ambulance NI, which thankful was and will be stationed at the races all week.
