Detectives from Public Protection Branch are appealing for witnesses following a report of a sexual assault in the West Strand Area of Portrush during the early hours of Sunday, 12 August.
Detective Constable McKane said: “It was reported that sometime between 1.15am and 2.45am a 54 year old female was sexually assaulted in the West Strand Area of the town. She was walking alone in the area when she was assaulted by an unknown male. He is described as being 35 – 40 years of age, approximately 5’10” in height, of average build with short dark hair.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault or seen a male fitting the assailant’s description in the West Strand Area to contact detectives at Portrush Police Station on 101 quoting reference number 339 15/08/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
