There was a carnival atmosphere in the centre of Coleraine as the town’s Easter celebrations got under way.
With a range of free attractions to enjoy coupled with the best weather of the year so far, shoppers and visitors got the Bank Holiday weekend off to the best possible start.
Organised by Coleraine Business Improvement District (BID), the town centre came alive amid brilliant spring sunshine and high temperatures.
Coleraine BID Manager Jamie Hamill said: “It’s been a brilliant few days for Coleraine and this is only the start. Our Easter Eggstravaganza, which continues until Tuesday, is the first event in the heart of the Causeway Coast brought to you by Coleraine BID.

“We will now be working hard to create even more experiences in the town of Coleraine for our local community and for visitors who come to the Causeway Coast.
“We aim to increase visitor numbers by creating fun, free experiences and are now keen to hear from our local organisations about their ideas. “People have already been talking to Coleraine BID about organising a week long fashion and beauty event, others about a special restaurant week, and recently a musical talent weekend.
Looking ahead, Jamie said there are plenty of reasons to visit Coleraine and experience what it has to offer.
“If you are looking for some retail therapy we have 500 brands available in the town and a vibrant range of strong, independent stores. In addition we have almost 50 places to eat and drink, many boasting a local, artisan offering.

“There are over 2000 car parking spaces, with our Railway Road car parks offering 5 hours for only £1 along with regular train and bus options from all over the province. If you are coming to the Causeway Coast and Glens this year don’t miss a trip to Coleraine.”

There’ll be plenty more opportunities to enjoy the Easter celebrations on Monday (April 22nd) and Tuesday (April 23rd). Pick up an entry form and take part in the big Easter Egg hunt throughout the town centre. Collect 12 egg locations to win a prize from the Coleraine BID stall or find all 30 to receive a ‘Expert Egg Hunter’ certificate and enter an extra prize draw to win a family Easter hamper.

In the fun zones (11am-3pm) enjoy an exciting range of free attractions including a petting zoo, Easter Tea Cups, beat the goalie competition, visits from Mickey and Minnie Mouse and craft stalls. There’ll be extra entertainment to enjoy on Easter Tuesday between 1pm-4pm with a Willy Wonka Treasure Trail, a chance to meet an Oompa Loompa, Golden Ticket giveaway along with Q Radio all in The Diamond Centre.
