Controlled explosion carried out at Portrush Harbour

Earlier this evening a digger, while for carrying out work at the Harbour in Portrush, unearthed a suspect object.

The police were called along with Army Technical Officers (ATO) to inspect the device which was believed to be an old ordnance from the war.

As a precaution a controlled explosion was carried out by the ATO and the object made safe and removed
