Leaving the desk of the Ballymoney Bubble this afternoon, a brief visit to the Naturally North Coast & Glens Artisan Christmas market in Ballymoney Town hall, resulted in the purchase of two absolute delights.
The office here at the Ballymoney Bubble is no stranger to a toasted soda and a covering of homemade jam or lemon curd, the latter being a particular favourite of ours, so we’re always on the lookout to try a new make or brand and particularly one that boasts being homemade.
So think of the ‘delight’ when we came across not one but two today at the Christmas market in the Town Hall from ‘Annie’s Delights, one we never tried before, and it didn’t disappoint.
Spying the Lemon Curd we picked up a jar and went to pay, only to be informed that what we actually picked up was ‘Lime Curd’.
Not one to pass up and opportunity, instead of leaving the Lime back in place of a jar or Lemon curd, we took BOTH.
No sooner had we returned to the office than the tea spoon was out, lids off and a good dunk of both curds was tasted.
The tart, tingly, twang of both curds excited every tastebud and was a pure pleasure, then it was back to the desk with a couple of slices of toast spread with each.
It’s not hard to see why the Lemon curd Great Taste award and Silver Blas nah Eireann in 2019.
