Ballycastle Branch of the Royal British Legion hold their AGM & Poppy Appeal Launch

The Annual General Meeting of the Ballycastle Branch of the Royal British
Legion took place in the Parish Centre, Ballycastle on Thursday 24th
October.

The Chairman welcomed the President, guest speaker and members and reminded, members present of the Annual Remembrance Day

The Service at the War Memorial will take place on Sunday 10th November, starting at 1045 with the Muster at 1030.

There will be Service of Remembrance at the Bonamargy War Graves which will follow and the Chairman invited all members of the branch to attend.

A special invitation is extended to the Community to join in Remembrance
Services and to remember those from Ballycastle and hinterland who gave
their lives for liberty.

In the evening a Service of Remembrance will take place in St James’s
Parish Church Ballycastle at 7 o’clock, Community representatives and the
public are invited to attend.

At the meeting the Branch launched its “Poppy Appeal” and the Chairman,
Poppy Appeal Organiser and members thank the public and those who support
the Poppy Appeal year on year, and that continued support is very much appreciated.

Armistice Day on Monday 11th November at 11 o’clock a Silence will be held
at the War Memorial and the community are very welcome.

The Rathlin Island Remembrance is on the Sunday 17th November, followed
by wreath laying at the War Graves of sailors and at sea to commemorate the
sailors who lost their lives on board HMS Drake and HMS Brisk torpedoed and
mined on 2nd October 1917 during the First World War.
