Ballymoney Foodbank ‘amazed & humbled’ after another successful Tesco food collection

Three days of food collection and donations by Ballymoney Foodbank at Tesco, have resulted in over 2000kg of food to stock up the foodbank shelves this Christmas.

Christmas can be an incredible thought time for people financially, often struggling to pay bill. This can result in people making sacrifices to keep a room over their heads, often not eating or feeding their family above themselves.

The result being foodbank’s often becoming a regular feature, even a necessity, in our towns and city’s. Here those struggling can pick up 3 days of emergency food by way of a referral from various agencies or services, who will provide a voucher.

The amount of food given will depend on the persons circumstances regards spouses or partners and if they care for any children.

The collection took place from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd November at Tesco and speaking to us after, about this years Christmas collection, a Ballymoney foodbank director said;

“We just like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to everyone who supported us over our collection last weekend. Altogether, 2035kgs of food was collected and £1,178.67 was donated.

“The food and money will make Christmas, and indeed the winter, much easier to bear for those people who are struggling at this time of year.

“We are absolutely amazed and humbled by the generosity of the people of Ballymoney town. Thank you all so much.”
