This morning saw over 40,000 students receive their GCSE results across Northern Ireland, but what next?

As the dust settles on results day many 16 year olds, regardless of their results, may be asking themselves where they go from here.

This year saw a rise of 1.1% of grades A*-C in GCSE results but this was also the first year that Northern Ireland introduced the new 1-9 grading system.

This is due to some of the exams being set by an English exam board who grade using the new system, where the Northern Ireland exam board, CCEA have maintained their A*-G grading.

Some may be looking to continue in school with A levels, other a vocational qualification or apprentership. And then there are those who just want to enter the big world of work.

There is no real wrong answer, but if your still struggling with a decision or want just an extra bit of information, we have some links for you below.

If you have any issues with your results, the first point of contact, other than your school, should be the CCEA, who’ve a dedicated helpline: 028 9026 1260
