Ballymoney Sinn Féin councillor Cathal McLaughlin has welcomed news that work on the installation of mobile phone infrastructure in the Ballymoney area for the o2 network is at the planning application stage.

Welcoming the announcement the local Sinn Féin councillor said:

“Mobiles can only work with a network of base stations in place where people want to use their mobile phones or other wireless devices. Without base stations, the mobile phones and other devices we rely on simply won’t work.

“The issue of mobile phone coverage, or lack of, has been a bone of contention in Ballymoney for many years from residents, businesses and visitors to the area.

“It is my hope that this development on the Ballymena Road will go some way in addressing the issue and this initiative undertaken by Telefonica, who own o2, must be welcomed.”
