McGuigan calls Southern election a ‘momentous’ one

Speaking in the aftermath of the Southern election results, North Antrim MLA Philip McGuigan said:

“The people have spoken and Sinn Féin are now the largest party on this island. This was a momentous result and testament to the hard work of our candidates and party activists but also testament to our policies and our positive argument to make this island we live on a better place.

Every Saturday this past three weeks cars have been heading from North Antrim to Meath, Kildare, Monaghan and Dublin to help and it was clear from the message that we were getting that the people wanted change.

“Sinn Féin want to be in government on both parts of this island and it is our intention to try and form a government, ideally without Fianna Fail or Fine Gael. We want to address the housing crisis, the health service, the economy and put Irish unity centre stage.

“We will use the mandate that people have given us in a positive way to challenge inequalities wherever they exist.”
