A minutes silence will be observed this morning at 11am to remember more that 100 NHS & care workers who have sadly died as a result of the COVID-19 virus.
The minute’s silence was first proposed by the Royal College of Midwives & the Royal College of Nursing alongside Unison, a union which represents many workers in the health service.
The PM Boris Johnson and his government have also given their support for the minutes silence, with a spokesperson for Mr Johnson saying: “We will be asking everybody who works in the government to take part and we would hope that others will take part nationwide as well.”
Yesterday at the UK governments daily briefing, it was announced that a £60,000 compensation payment would be paid to the families of front line NHS staff and those working in social care, who have died as a result of COVID-19
Todays minutes silence falls on the same day as ‘International Workers Memorial Day’.
