Police appeal for information on ‘linked’ incidents across Causeway Coast & Glens

Detectives in Coleraine are appealing for information following a number of incidents believed to be linked in the Causeway Coast and Glens area on Saturday 22nd June.

Detective Sergeant Richard Donnell said:

“At around 12:50am, it was reported that a dark car approached a petrol station at the Coleraine Road area of Ballycastle. Two men gained entry to the premises and made off with a quantity of cigarettes.

 

“Police received a call at around 7:45am from staff at a shop in the Main Street area of Armoy following a report of suspicious activity at the premises. It was reported that a dark coloured approached the shop with two men damaging the roller door control box. They made off from the scene empty handed.

“At around 2am, it was reported that a car was on fire at the Loughareema Road area of Cushendall. It is believed the car crashed in the area and Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended to extinguished the fire.

 

“Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, police are investigating a link between all three incidents.

 

“Three men aged 38, 30 and 29 years old were arrested in relation to the investigation. All three have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

 

“We are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives in Coleraine on 101, quoting reference number 118 22/06/19 . Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
