Paym issue warning to customers about fake messages

Paym is a service which allows the user to pay individuals using their banking app and mobile phone number, but has issued a warning over fake messages being distributed.

Fifteen banks and building societies offer the Paym service including Danske and Ulster Bank.

The firm have said;

“It has been brought to our attention that over the last few days some fake messages have been sent out impersonating Paym and asking customers to follow a link to receive money.

“This is not legitimate; a genuine Paym message won’t ask you to register to collect funds already sent.

“Copies of genuine Paym text messages can be found at https://paym.co.uk/received-a-text/.

“If you think you may have fallen for an online scam, you should contact your bank using the phone number on the back of your debit card, or printed on a bank statement.”
