Many A & AS level students have received their exam results this morning and DUP Councillor John McAuley is one of many local representatives who have praised students across Northern Ireland on their results.

Around 28,000 students would have received their exam results today and according to the BBC, those receiving A* or A grades rose slightly to 30%, half a precent up against last year

Commenting John said,

“As students receive their A and AS results this morning, I congratulate each and everyone of them on their achievements.

“There success has not happened by accident, and I commend the hard work and dedication of local students, teachers and supportive parents, without whom these results would not have been possible. It is also a reflection of the fundamental strength of our education system in Northern Ireland, something that needs to be seriously protected.

“I wish all of our A and AS Level pupils well for the future, no matter what pathway they take, and for those who didn’t get the results they wanted, I urge them not to panic but to take advantage of the help from careers service to plot the best way forward. Above all though, I congratulate our pupils and they should enjoy today celebrating the fruits of their labours.”
